Halibut Season Is Here in Westport

Halibut season is open, and it is one of the best times of year to fish out of Westport. Halibut fishing is open on select days, so planning ahead matters. For Marine Area 2, WDFW lists the 2026 all-depth halibut season as open:

April 30 through May 31:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays

June 2 through June 30:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays

As always, halibut can close early if the quota is reached, but we will contact you if your trip is cancelled for quota.

These trips are all about deep water, heavy gear, and big fish. Halibut are one of the most prized catches on the Washington Coast, and when the season opens, spots can go fast. Already we have limited open days- So check our calendar.

At High Life Charters, we keep it simple.

Small crew. Big fish. No gimmicks.

You will fish aboard the Show Girl, a 37-foot Delta with plenty of room to move around. We keep our trips small, so you are not packed shoulder-to-shoulder with a crowd. Just a solid boat, a focused captain, and a real chance at bringing home quality fish.

Electric reels

make deep-water halibut fishing more comfortable, more accessible, and a lot more fun out on the ocean.

One of the best parts of our halibut trips is the use of electric reels. Halibut fishing can mean dropping deep, and electric reels make the trip more comfortable and accessible without taking away from the excitement.

Captain Nick has been fishing out of Westport since he was a kid. He knows these waters, knows the fishery, and knows how to make the most of limited halibut days.
